What this tells you
Type the year you were born and pick a country. The calculator counts every president (United States) or prime minister (United Kingdom) who has held office at any point during your lifetime, shows you the full list, and tells you who was in charge the year you were born. It's a quick way to feel exactly how much — or how little — political history you've lived through. Everything runs in your browser; nothing you enter is stored or sent anywhere.
How it's counted
- A leader is included if their time in office overlapped your lifetime — from your birth year up to today.
- Counting is by year, so a leader whose term ended the same year you were born is included.
- Leaders who served non-consecutive terms — such as Grover Cleveland and Donald Trump in the US, or Winston Churchill in the UK — are counted as one person, with both term ranges shown.
Frequently asked questions
- Is it accurate?
- Term dates come from official government records and standard historical lists. Because it works at year-level, results around inauguration years can differ by one from a day-exact count.
- Why is a president listed twice merged into one?
- Someone who served separate, non-consecutive terms is still one person, so we count them once and list both periods (e.g. “Donald Trump — 2017–2021, 2025–present”).
- Do you store my birth year?
- No. The calculation happens entirely on your device. Nothing is uploaded or saved.
- Which countries are supported?
- Right now the United States and the United Kingdom. More countries are being added over time.
